On Wednesday, 20 September, 2017 was Annette's last night as the Cub Scout Leader.  It was great to see Cub Packs from all over the district attend as part of a District activity, and there were more than a few others who just couldn't let her leave without know how much she's loved.

She has been honoured by the Regional Commissioner in supporting her to become an Honorary Leader, a position that means Annette is still part of Scouting, one not given out too often.  We are fortunate to have Liz Sobolewski as our other Honorary Leader.  Both have given long service to the Group.

Thanks to the Michael Hughes Foundation and NSW Government Stronger Communities, we have a defib unit now located in our Scout hall.  This is part of our commitment to the local community and our hall users.

A defib unit is vital in the first minutes of a heart attack and increases the chance of survival.

It is still advised that where possible to undertake suitable first aid training.  This is available through a providers, include through Scouts.

The hall has recently had two wall fans (on timers) added for the comfort of the user.

In addition, room movement sensor have been fitted to the toilets, committee, Venturer, and Scout rooms.  This means that users of the hall don't have to worry about leaving the lights on.

Finally, we have completed the upgrade of the lighting to energy efficient LED's, and you would have noticed an improvement in the light levels.

This was all possible through a grant from the NSW Government's Stronger Communities Fund.

We have just to complete the renewing of the kitchen floor and the drainage works out the back of the hall.

Welcome back to a new Scouting year.

My name is Geoff Henderson, and I am the Region Leader for Strategy for Greater Western Sydney. Over  the  past  six  months, we  have  been  busy  working  on  the  NSW Branch  Strategy  for 2016  -  2018, setting the direction for Scouting in NSW and making sure our movement is the best it can be. To do this, we need your feedback.

On Sunday 6th March, Group Leaders, Leaders In Charge, Region Leaders, Rover Advisors and Fellowship Chairs will be gathering for an interactive session;  workshopping  components of our 2016 - 2018 NSW Branch Strategic Plan.  To make the most of this session, we need YOUR input on how you feel about Scouting, and how we can make it better.

Following is a link  for all Parents,  Youth Members and Leaders to complete a short survey. We would like to get a well rounded view for our discussion on the 6th March and the more responses we can get, the better the information we have to make decisions. Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at

    Yours in Scouting,

    Geoff Henderson

Finally, we have complete the 2013 Community Building Partnership grant.  We now have:

    • New external floodlights
    • New security sensors and lights
    • New internal LED lights
    • New emergency exit lights
    • New smoke detectors
    • New master key system

This brings up to a new standard of giving Scouting to the youth and safety to them and our hall hirers.  Already we have received great feedback.

As with any hall, there is still other items on the wish list.  If you know of a grant, let us know.  If you think there is something needed or that needs renewing, then let us know.

Thanks to Craig, Elizabeth, Scouts Australia NSW Branch, and the NSW Government for getting this done.
